The process starts with a one-to-one, fully confidential consultation covering your medical history from birth to today. This takes approximately 90 minutes. At this consultation you will be given test kits for the initial testing and a folder of information on diet and further testing. You will be required to complete a questionnaire and ATEC evaluation prior to the initial consultation and may be asked to seek medical advice to investigate any underlying disease. The ATEC evaluation is one of the tools used to track the progress of treatment. You will be asked to supply the results of medical tests available to you.
The initial consultation
will include a detailed overview of your current health problems, medical and family history, plus diet and lifestyle factors. You will receive a personalised dietary, lifestyle and nutritional supplement programme developed from the information gathered in your consultation and from recommended laboratory tests. It is very important that you are honest and open in the consultation.
Follow-up appointments
are usually scheduled every 8 weeks to assess progress and make adjustments to the programme. You will be asked to complete a Follow-up report and an online ATEC evaluation prior to the consultation. The consultation will take between 30 and 45 minutes and can be done in person or over the phone.
Online Support is offered in the form of an invitation-only Yahoo group exclusively for elemental nutrition patients. Messages are posted here by therapists and patient’s parents on issues such as supplementary therapies e.g. homeopathy, parent support group meetings and relevant research on autistic spectrum disorders. There are files on various topics including recipes and sources of toxic exposure. There are also links to further useful websites.
